8 Hard Truths About Life I Wish I Knew Earlier

Life is many things. Life is beautiful and miraculous, and it’s wonderful. But there is one thing life isn’t: easy. There are times when this is more apparent than others. We don’t always make it any easier on ourselves either; we hold onto notions and habits and notions that are incorrect, ludicrous, or even harmful to us. We walk through life refusing to see simple truths because we’re worried they’ll be too hard to bare, without realizing that accepting them will actually make every day much easier and much more joyful. William Beteet’s list describes perfectly some difficult truths that we need to learn to accept.

1. Everyone You Love is Going to Die

Even though it may sound gloomy, acknowledging that you and everyone you know won’t be there forever will make your connections richer and deeper. When a loved one passes away, so many individuals experience an overwhelming sense of sorrow because they took them for granted. We never know when we might learn that our parents, grandparents, or friends are no longer with us. Have you recently given your folks a call? Make a call to them right now. We should treasure our connections because they are the most important things we have in life.

2. We Give Our Lives Meaning

Buddhists hold that our thoughts and deeds shape the world we live in. So choosing to have a meaningful life is a decision. We don’t need to join the peace corps or fight world hunger to live meaningful lives; a grocery store bagger can experience the same level of fulfilment as the CEO of a significant corporation. Even when we’ve accomplished a lot, our lives might sometimes feel empty because we’re too focused on what we don’t have and what we desire.

3. The Perfect Partner Doesn’t Exist

Many people dream of the perfect romance and a partner that will sweep us off of our feet and into the sunset of an eternally happy ever after. In fact, most of us are probably guilty of daydreaming about our “perfect match” sometimes. But how can it affect our real relationships when our partners don’t meet our picture perfect dreams? This doesn’t mean we should settle for someone we’re miserable with, but it does mean that we should always expect to put work into a relationship. Think of it as an artistic masterpiece; you and your partner are the tools and you have to work together to make the canvas beautiful. We can be happy and fulfilled in a relationship, but not if we expect the canvas to paint itself!

4. Life Is A Game

Why should we live in constant fear of making a terrible mistake and tread carefully? We have this life to experience and learn from. Consider it like a game; choose what you want to do, study the guidelines, and advance. If we’re too terrified to play, we’ll never succeed or be able to accomplish anything. Have you ever heard of a football player making the pros without ever stepping foot on a field?

5. Everything Ends

Similar to the first, though perhaps a little more difficult to hear. Nothing lasts a lifetime. We won’t be youthful forever; we’ll only be young till we’re old. We may lose the people we love, fall out of love, or experience all three. We’ll live, then we’ll pass away. Many individuals have lived, loved, succeeded, failed, and passed away before us. We must keep in mind that we are the same as everyone else. However, we can choose to feel appreciative, delighted, and even empowered in this existence rather than depressed by it. What would make something special if it endured forever? Things gain value over time and via endings. We must be grateful for everything.

6. Be Romantic About The Little Things

We now understand that everything has an end, and that we should cherish every moment of life. When viewed through the dull lens of someone who considers life to be “the daily grind,” things might become incredibly monotonous. But when we stop and let things be, everything is wonderful. Go to work or school a different way, lie in the grass and observe the clouds, and gaze up at the stars. Being romantic will make the world seem magical at all times. Enjoy life and a day off from stress!

7. Be A Realist About The Big Things

While it’s crucial to not take life too seriously, we also shouldn’t allow our right brain rule the entire time. There are some things in life for which we simply must use our analytical mind. For instance, if we wanted to become well-known authors, we couldn’t merely write a few sentences and discover that, BOOM, we were a best seller! No. To edit, market, and publish our work, the proper measures must be taken. Most worthwhile endeavours need time and effort. In essence, everyone occasionally needs to utilise their judgement.

8. Figure Out A Way Or Don’t Complain

Almost everyone has come across someone who spends all of their time whining about how their life isn’t going as planned. Either we ignore it or we become irritated with them. If they don’t like it, we question why they don’t just alter it. However, if we’re being completely honest, we see that we’re not always much better. “That teacher is way too picky, and her tests don’t make any sense.” “I have a condition, so I just can’t learn how to do that.”The fact is that complaining rarely results in change and, most of the time, it serves to hold us back. We must take initiative and think positively. We have to have faith that we can find a solution. We can keep our grievances to ourselves if not.
